Fear and Guilt

Calvary greetings brethren, I am glad that the love of God has brought us together as one body of Christ. I can say it’s the strongest body ever which is full of life. Nevertheless, among us there is fear and guilt which are among the stumbling blocks that can set us apart from Christ if not dealt with.

Fear and guilt are ways in which the devil hurts God’s people by renewing their past sinful acts hence delaying them not to come back to God for forgiveness. Sometimes our journey gets messy along the way and find ourselves indulged in the earthly acts which anger God. To the believers who at some point tasted the grace of God and started building a foundation with the rock ‘Jesus’, Sometime we may feel worse than before and feel guilty of our sinful nature after leaving the way of righteousness. We should remember that our God is slow to anger and does not treat us as our sins deserve.

We should repent so that He can wash our iniquities away. From

Psalms 103:12

[as far as east from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us.]NIV

Here we get assurance that he truly forgives and forgets our past sinful life. As well it showcases the greatness of God’s love; as believers, the love of God is the greatest for our faith. Looking at

1st John 4:18

[there is no fear in love but perfect love drives our fear because fear has not made perfect in love].

It asserts the fact that we can face God confidently. To the young believers, we all do fear sometime and this can be ; fear of not being successful, fear of a broken future, fear of a collapsing relationship, fear of backsliding, the list is endless.

An amazing story of the prodigal son from Luke 15:11-32. The younger son worries about life and wants all his inheritance so as to live an extravagant life away from home. He gets his share and goes to a far country. He squanders all his wealth in wildly living. Famine strikes the country he was living in and he starves. Knowing of how wealthy was his father he decides to go back and ask for forgiveness. His humility depicts when he says that he could accept even being a servant in his father’s house. Not only does the father forgive his son but he also prepares a feast and slaughters the fattest calf.

Therefore we should always come back to God and ask for forgiveness. Whatever we have done doesn’t really matter for He will accept us the way we are. Normally, we do feel guilty or fear because of sin; wrong doing. Let’s not allow this be the case that will hinder us from coming back to God. When he forgives, He forgives and forgets.
