A MIRACLE IN A TRAIN TRACK

One summer afternoon in distant land, a mother is tending to her garden. Few metres away, her eight years old son is playing around with his toys. She loved it that way; to always have him around as her work in the compound. That way, she could protect him from any harm or danger. Probably because he was her only son and child for that matter. Her husband had passed away few years ago during an unfortunate militant attack at a military base in Afghanistan during an American occupation. He had left her with their young son who was only three years old. The child reminds her of her short-lived marriage but nonetheless scare away the loneliness.
This afternoon, she admired the beautifully mowed lawns in her compound; the blossoming plants of all kinds flowering in stunningly beautiful colours gave the home an extreme sense of freshness. At moments like these birds could be seen moving in patterns above, chirping to sweet melodies ; livestock could be seen grazing across the ranch gracefully. Was the vast compound not meticulously a true reflection of class, affluence and beauty of Mother Nature?
It was while she was deeply engrossed in this fantasy that a shrill scream rent the air .The sudden honking of the train made her almost jump out of her skin. The admiration of her superbly modern compound had so overwhelmed her that she had not noticed her son going after his basket ball which apparently had rolled far away from the playfield. Making for reaching the track scene, she whispered to God to save her child. She reached to find that her son was not hurt but her ball was no more .The son was too scared to narrate to her but that notwithstanding she could not hide her joy and gratitude to God as she cuddled him in her arms back home.
A keen look at this short story, a Christian can learn critical lessons about the whole incident.
 The mother was loving and caring to the son. This is depicted when the author tells us that the mother loved it when she worked near the son to ensure that no harm came to her.
 The mother’s love to her garden and compound made her forget all about her child, a fact that almost cost her son. The author says that she was too engrossed in this fantasy to notice her son going after the stray ball.
 The mother believed in God’s ability to protect and save lives. This is well captured when the author say that the mother rushed to the scene praying to God to rescue her son. We are further told that the mother was not short of joy and gratitude to God for saving her only child.
 Earthly possessions cloud us from reality as the mother forgot about watching over her child as she admired her vast compound. They have the ability to make us forget about our service to God and even to fellow human beings.
In addition, we observe the following about God
 God had blessed the mother with a child with his late husband .We see the mother happy to have the son as he keep him company and provide him with joy.
 God is able to protect even when man cannot. The author stresses that God saved the child from being killed in the train accident. He is able to watch over the child even when the mother is admiring her compound and having forgotten to watch over him.
 God answer prayers. This is evident as the woman whisper to God to save her only child from the imminent death. The author tells us that the woman was full of gratitude to God for saving her son.
In summary, Christians are called to be believers in God our lord as his protection and love is never failing. We are called to have unfailing and unwavering faith in God as our sole father. Psalms 125:2 tell us that:
“As the mountains surrounds Jerusalem,
The lord surrounds his people
Now and ever”

I wish you a happy journey as you seek to seek and love Christ more in your Christian life.
